So they’re all over the news – Chrome or Mirror Nails. Beautiful, shiny works of art that you can see your reflection in! But how are they achieved and are they safe?

The worry about Chrome Nails has been all surrounding what the pigment or powder is actually made of and the possibility of it containing dangerous particles and this is something I was very concerned about in my search for Chrome Nails.

The wonderful people at Magpie Beauty have created a beautiful pigment called Tiara. This can be used in a number of ways and was originally designed to be applied as a fine dust which creates a beautiful sparkle to nails when applied to the tacky layer of Gel. Then came Chrome Nails…

While trying the dust in different ways 2 of the Nail Technicians, Sarah Richardson and Anona Wright, found that if the dust is applied to the nails using an eyeshadow applicator and no wipe top coat safe chrome nails with no dangerous ingredients could be created.  This technique can be used over different colour polishes so creating different chrome effects. 

Here we have Tiara over pale purple, bright pink, 2 different silver polishes, white and black all creating different, but equally beautiful effects.
